Ellie and Shawn first saw the band perform at Bassingbourn Barracks many years ago and kept our details just in case. As soon as they got in touch we knew it was going to be a great wedding since the party at Bassingbourn was pretty spectacular. We met with Ellie a few weeks before the day with her bridesmaids ( Claire and Jo) and it was great to get to know them and get the vibe of the wedding. They were very friendly and made it easier on the day as we felt like we knew them really well already.
As soon as we arrived at the venue we were welcomed by Ben Lavenham the photographer for the day. He is a great wedding photographer and his photopraphs are fantastic. He took some fab photos of our performance.
We had new boy Dan Gill on bass
Harriet on percussion and vocals
And old boy Neil Thom on guitar
We had new boy Andy Wilder on drums.
And head boy Jamie on lead vocals and guitar
We performed some really cool songs that Ellie and Shawn had chosen. We performed loads of 1980s classics including Walking on Sunshine, Footloose, Living on a Prayer and Baggy Trousers.
Neil played in the crowd
When we drove past the main house, we found the barn at Kentwell Hall we loaded in our equipment.
We met the resident Peacock called “Steve” which Harriet was very fond and scared of at the same time.
She made friends with him and we all enjoyed the lovely food that Ellie and Shawn had provided for us. A delicious roast dinner. Steve made his moved as soon as we finished to take any scraps.
We then had a look round the rest of the grounds and enjoyed the views. There was also an 1931 Rolls Royce in the garage which was amazing.
We then got changed in our dressing room and prepared ourselves for the first dance.
Ellie and Shawn them came to the dance floor for their first dance.
Jamie did a DJ set in the break and everyone danced all night.
There was still time for an excellent second set.
Ellie and Shawn wrote to us afterwards to say
“Hi Jamie & Harriet
Just a quick e-mail to say thank you for Saturday night! We had an amazing day and I hope you had a good time playing too. We have had so many comments of how good you guys were, which is always really nice to hear.
Sorry I didn’t get to thank you in person but it was all a bit of a blur at the end to be honest.
Please pass on thanks to the rest of the band.
Love Ellie & Shawn x”
